Design experience allows for flexibility to expand
Howard Regional Health System*
Kokomo, Indiana
Howard Regional Health System is an acute care hospital system comprised of two hospitals on three campuses. Well-positioned financially and moving forward with a comprehensive three-year strategic plan, their focus is on continued growth and enhanced quality services. The design recommendation was to relocate the data center to the edge of campus and integrate it with an office complex. This solution created more space within the hospital and allowed the hospital to eliminate single points of failure and empower concurrently maintainable systems. Capital cost, speed of implementation and data center migration were all effectively addressed.
The design also provided the flexibility for future expansion. The space for staging, testing and storage is built on an access floor with demountable walls. This area can be easily transformed for future additional computer room equipment rack systems. The design also included a studio concept for the computer room air conditioning system to allow improved access for service and a higher level of security.
